About Derry
County Derry is located in the Province of Ulster and is Part of Northern Ireland and was created in 1613 when an assembl age of land was made by combining what was formerly known as County Coleraine with smaller parts of Counties Donegal, Antrim and Tyrone. At this time Derry City was in existence and was simply known as Derry. The “London” was imposed by the British who ruled at the time. At one time Derry was a walled city and much of 17th century stone construction remains to this day.
In addition to the historic walled City of Derry, nearby car touring attractions include the Fermanagh Lakes Region, Old Bushmills Distillery, Carrick a Rede Rope Bridge, The Antrim Coast and Glens, Giants Causeway and the wild unspoiled scenery of Donegal.
