Accommodations in Ireland and Great Britain cover a full range of unique lodgings
including Bed & Breakfast (B&B), Castles, Country Houses with Restaurants,
Farms, Guest Houses, Hotels, Manor Homes, Resorts, Self-Catering and Hostels.
You may choose to experience a few nights in a luxurious hotel in the heart
of the city or opt for a simple B&B in the countryside. Either way the
choice is yours. We do recommend you reserve your accommodations prior to leaving

The following describes the many different types of accommodations in Ireland
Great Britain. In order to help you make the best choice for your particular
needs we have provided the following descriptions. Please note that some facilities
may fall under more than one of the following classifications.

BED & BREAKFAST (B&B) - a bedroom and the use
of a bath/shower and toilet in a private home. Some B&B's are 'purpose
built' and have several units in a building separate from the owner's living
quarters. |

CASTLE - refurbished with all of the modern comforts
yet maintaining the allure and atmosphere of the period. Some castles have
great dining and may even grow much of their own produce. Cuisine can range
from good country cooking to fine dining. |

COUNTRY HOUSE / MANOR HOME - usually a very large, older
refurbished home or estate with modern conveniences and unique architecture.
Often providing high standards of accommodation with an elegant, rural
atmosphere. Typically decorated with antiques and period furniture. Most
offer fine country cuisine created with the best local ingredients. Ideal
for sight seeing, outdoor activities, golf and fishing holidays. |

FARMHOUSE - experience simple daily life on a working
farm. Enjoy a 'back to nature' experience in a country home with good cooking
and a relaxed family environment. |

GUEST HOUSE - moderate to luxury accommodations. Often
family run establishments with Victorian or Georgian architecture, and
well-appointed rooms. Many have restaurants with fine dining. Typically
in a country setting with outdoor activities nearby. |

HOTEL - Ireland has a wide range of hotels with two
to five star ratings. Many hotels are in developed cities with towns setting
and are close to local attractions. Some hotels have restaurants and pubs.
Country hotels often offer outdoor activities and/or golf courses. The
Level of services and amenities offered is typically in keeping with rating
of the establishment. Two star hotels offer basic lodging while five star
facilities provide luxury living. |

INN - small unique
property often family run with pub and/or restaurant. Friendly casual
atmosphere often located in towns and small villages. |

RESORT - typically
provides luxury guest rooms along with superb leisure activities. Resorts
are usually well appointed and offer excellent dining. Many provide a
range of recreational facilities including a spa, golf course and swimming
pool. |

SELF-CATERING - is a house, cottage, holiday house,
or flat. The minimum property rental is usually one week. Heat and electric
may come at an additional cost. Self-catering facilities are good for families
and friends and provide a good base for day trips. |

HOSTEL - are most popular with young people and budget
minded travelers. They provide the most 'basic' lodging. Hostels typically
provide the most inexpensive sleeping accommodations around. Many have
large shared sleeping rooms and bath facilities. Some may offer meals,
private rooms and self-catering facilities. There are 37 Youth Hostels
in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Some Hostels may have a maximum age limit
and some are more suitable than others for families. |
